Who is Jack Young?

Jack is a filmmaker and photographer specializing in cinematic storytelling.

A dreamer raised on film classics like Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Terminator, Jack developed an early fascination with the medium that evolved into a career rooted in both curiosity and craft. While earning a Bachelor of Arts in Writing, Rhetoric and Technical Communication with a Film Studies minor from James Madison University, Jack wrote dozens of essays on cinema and produced, edited, and co-starred in numerous short films— a hands-on education that sharpened his ability to communicate meaningfully through image, rhythm, and story.

Since then, Jack’s path has taken him through a dynamic range of creative roles in both showbiz and marketing. Landing his first Production Assistant job on Season 4 of Maine Cabin Masters, Jack continued to work on professional TV sets including the next season of MCM, the 1st season of HBO Max’s Legendary, and the 75th Annual Tony Awards—handling everything from crafty and equipment maintenance to behind-the-scenes coverage, COVID compliance, appearance releases, and large-scale extras coordination.

Jack has helmed numerous personal projects, including narrative short films, music videos, and experimental art pieces, while also building a diverse professional portfolio recording live events and performances, in addition to producing social content for music festivals, cannabis brands, and local small businesses. In 2025, Jack pledged to “dial in” creativity like never before— recording his first single as the voice of Nexus-9; learning the ways of celluloid by directing an increasing output of Super 8mm short films; and acting in his first Hollywood feature-length movie. His next project will blow your mind…

Jack’s specialties include genre-blending photography, creative cinematography solutions, non-linear editing, and committing to the bit. He’s known for his ability to “do a lot with a little,” adapting to the energy and constraints of each shoot with both technical precision and an intuitive sense of tone. Whether working solo or with a team, Jack approaches every project with enthusiasm, intention, and a deep respect for story.

A proud New Englander and diehard Boston sports fan, Jack currently lives in Somerville, Massachusetts, where he watches a movie a day and continues to build his freelance practice under the banner Jack Young Film. Drawing inspiration from independent auteurs like Francis Ford Coppola, Sean Baker, and Coralie Fargeat, Jack is committed to telling stories with heart—and to amplifying voices and moments that might otherwise go unseen.
